Data Integration Engineer

Remote, EMEA

We are looking for a proactive Data Integration Engineer. You will work with data-driven applications, APIs, databases, and integration workflows for a leading technology provider in the Higher Education sector.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in integration development, backend/API engineering, or other data-driven applications
  • Hands-on experience developing and maintaining integrations and data pipelines
  • Good knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, and relational databases
  • Familiarity with API testing and debugging tools such as Postman, curl, or Bruno
  • Understanding of data mapping, transformation, file-based integrations, and scheduled processing
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to understand unfamiliar or legacy systems
  • Proactive working style, ownership of assigned tasks, and ability to work independently
  • Strong spoken and written English and the ability to communicate clearly with technical and business stakeholders
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a distributed, cross-functional team

 

Will Be a Plus

  • Hands-on experience with agentic AI, AI coding assistants, or AI-powered engineering workflows
  • Experience with iPaaS or ETL platforms such as Boomi, Talend, SnapLogic, NiFi, or Azure Data Factory
  • Knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL, stored procedures, views, or database packages
  • Experience migrating on-premises integrations to cloud or SaaS platforms
  • Familiarity with BI/reporting tools

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain integrations between applications, databases, cloud services, and external platforms
  • Work with REST APIs, web services, files, middleware, and other integration mechanisms
  • Build and optimize data pipelines, mappings, and transformation logic
  • Analyze existing and legacy integrations and help improve or modernize them
  • Troubleshoot integration failures and identify root causes
  • Ensure the reliability, performance, and maintainability of integration solutions
  • Collaborate with engineers, business analysts, and stakeholders to understand requirements and propose practical solutions
  • Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and blockers clearly
  • Participate in code reviews and maintain technical documentation for integrations and workflows
