Imagine trying to cook dinner while switching between four different stoves, each with its own set of controls. That is what radiologists were facing when every new case meant juggling multiple software programs in addition to caring for their patients, entering details again and again, and hoping nothing got lost in the shuffle.
The platform we are building for our client takes that messy kitchen and turns it into a single streamlined workspace. Every tool still has its own interface, but everything stays in sync with the study the radiologist is working on. Move to the next patient and all connected apps follow without hesitation.

Here we will walk through our integration with Merge Universal Viewer, a popular choice among radiologists for reviewing X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs.
The experience we aimed for
The goal was simple: when a radiologist selects a case in our platform’s worklist, Merge Universal Viewer opens with the right images and then closes automatically once the report is done. No more window juggling or re entering patient details, just a smooth flow that keeps the focus on diagnostics.
Merge Universal Viewer integration architecture
The diagram below shows how our platform, the browser, and Merge Universal Viewer work together to create a seamless workflow for radiologists.

1. From worklist to study selection
It all starts in our platform. A radiologist picks a study from the worklist, and the system collects the key identifiers required to open it in Merge Universal Viewer.
2. Building a secure launch URL
Those details pass through the configuration service, which keeps tenant specific settings such as domains and access rules. From there, our platform’s URL builder and encryption component creates a secure launch URL that ensures the right study is opened safely.
3. Opening the viewer in the browser
That URL is then handed off to the user’s browser. A new tab opens, and Merge Universal Viewer comes to life. From the radiologist’s perspective it feels instant, as if the viewer simply follows their click.
4. Validating the request on the server side
On the Merge UV side, the request is processed by the MultiAuthenticator. It checks the security of the request, applies the correct user and domain information, and grants access.
5. Loading the study
Once validation is complete, the viewer session opens with the selected study and, if enabled, related studies as well. The radiologist is taken straight to the right images without manual searching.
6. Closing the loop with reporting
When the report is signed or discarded, an event is sent back to our platform. The browser then closes the viewer tab automatically, leaving the radiologist ready for the next study without extra steps.
The result
With the integration in place, a study in Merge Universal Viewer now opens in under 7 seconds compared to the 20 to 30 seconds it used to take. Over a full workday that saves radiologists 15 to 20 minutes, time they can spend on diagnostics instead of clicking through screens. The viewer also closes automatically once a report is signed or discarded, removing one more distraction from the workflow.
The team that makes integrations work
Our team knows how to bring together complex healthcare systems, ensure secure data exchange, and design integrations that scale across different clinical environments. We have done this with image viewers, reporting tools, scheduling software, EHR platforms, and more.
We build the integrations that make them work as one, and we are ready to do the same for you. Let’s talk.
