We are looking for an experienced Functional Consultant – Higher Education to support universities and colleges in optimizing, implementing, and supporting ERP, CRM and Student Information Systems (SIS). The ideal candidate will act as a bridge between institutional stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring business requirements are translated into effective, compliant, and scalable system solutions.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Higher Education stakeholders including Registrar, Finance, Payroll, HR, Student Services, and Admissions teams to understand business processes and challenges.
• Gather, analyze, and document functional requirements, workflows, and use cases.
• Translate institutional needs into clear functional specifications for technical and implementation teams.
• Lead or support implementations of Higher Education CRM and SIS platforms such as Ellucian Banner, Colleague, Anthology, Workday, Oracle, PeopleSoft, or similar systems.
• Configure and support Student Information Systems, Finance & Accounting, Payroll & HR, and Financial Aid modules as applicable.
• Participate in system upgrades, patches, enhancements, and ongoing optimization initiatives.
• Develop and execute functional test cases, UAT scenarios, and validation plans.
• Support end users during User Acceptance Testing and go-live activities.
• Identify system gaps and recommend process improvements or functional enhancements.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to university leadership and functional teams.
• Conduct workshops, demonstrations, and training sessions for end users.
• Provide post-implementation support and functional troubleshooting.
• Maintain functional documentation, process flows, configuration guides, and training materials.
• Ensure solutions comply with Higher Education regulations, including payroll, tax, audit, and other regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Education, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a Functional Consultant within Higher Education.
• Hands-on experience with Higher Education systems.
• Strong understanding of university business processes, including:
  • Student lifecycle management
  • Finance and payroll operations
  • Academic administration
• Proven experience working with cross-functional and technical teams.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Ellucian Banner, Colleague, Anthology, Workday, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of payroll and tax processes specific to Higher Education institutions.
• Experience with data migration, reporting, and system integrations.
• Prior consulting experience in a client-facing environment.
