Crosswords are fine for lazy weekends, not for planning a clinical workday. Yet that is how it felt when radiologists had their shifts in QGenda and their studies in a RIS (Radiology Information System) with no link between them. Every day started with a scavenger hunt: check the RIS for cases, jump to QGenda for hours, then guess if the two matched.

To fix this, we worked with our customer on a platform built as a central hub where many of the everyday tools in a radiology practice finally cooperate instead of colliding. Schedules, exams, reporting software, and other everyday apps from different vendors now appear in one coordinated view. In this post we will zoom in on how we connected QGenda to that environment so radiologists see their active shift right inside the worklist and spend less time solving puzzles and more time reading scans.
Our vision for QGenda integration
In an ideal world, a radiologist should not have to wonder whether the exams in front of them even belong to their shift. The schedule and the worklist should move together like two hands on the same clock. One shows who is on duty, the other shows what needs to be read, and the two should always point to the same moment in time.
That was the vision we shaped with our customer. Instead of forcing doctors to hop between QGenda and the RIS, we wanted them to see everything in one place. Open the worklist in the morning and the active shift appears right alongside the day’s exams. No mental gymnastics, no duplicate checks, just a clear view of what matters now.
How we integrated QGenda
Making QGenda feel like part of the daily flow meant teaching our platform to handle the busywork behind the scenes. Here is how it works in practice.
The platform connects to QGenda through its API, logging in with a secure token. At a set interval it pulls the latest schedule updates so shifts stay fresh without anyone lifting a finger. Those shifts are stored in new tables we built for this purpose: one table holds the list of shifts, another maps them to users, and a third links them to worklists. For each radiologist, a username field ties their profile to the right QGenda account, so the system always knows who is on duty and which exams belong to their active shift.
Administrators manage everything from a simple config screen. They set up the connection once, and the platform takes care of the rest. From then on the system keeps exams and schedules in step without extra work.
The result in practice
Before integration, radiologists had to jump between the RIS and QGenda to double-check if a study really belonged to their shift. Each confirmation took away time and attention.
With the systems now linked, the worklist shows exactly who is on duty and which exams fall into their schedule. Radiologists no longer burn focus on cross-checking and can invest that effort into careful reading of scans. The outcome is clearer concentration, fewer errors, and steadier progress through the day.
Even short savings on each case accumulate across a team, which means more patients served without adding strain on the doctors.
Let’s make your systems work together
We specialize in turning fragmented healthcare software into one consistent experience that feels simple for the user and powerful for the clinic. What once lived in separate silos now works in harmony, ready to scale across locations.
This is what we do best. We take healthcare systems that were never designed to cooperate and connect them into one flow that feels natural and scales across sites. You can see more of our healthcare work here. And the same approach applies far beyond healthcare, wherever teams rely on a mix of software that needs to work as one.
Replace daily puzzles with a workflow that runs clean and predictable. Tell us about your setup and we will show you how to make the pieces fit together.
